Tips for Diabetic Patients
1.THERE ARE SOME FOOD PRODUCTS TO BE AVOIDED.They are Sugar, Sweets, Jaggery, Soft drinks, Proprietary drinks etc. The latter two contain nearly 25g of sugar per bottle of 250 ml. Similarly honey shows nearly 5.2 gm of various kinds of sugar per 100ml. Hence these are not recommended. Elimination or restriction of some other items depends on the presence of associated diseases and /or complications of diabetes.
2. GO FOR A BLOOD SUGAR TEST, IF YOU SEE ANY OF THE SYMPTOMS BELOWDiabetes is increased sugar (glucose) in blood and much more.Symptoms are:Increased thirstIncreased hungerFatigue / TirednessFrequent Urination
3. ARTIFICIAL SWEETNERS CAN BE USED BUT WITH FEW LIMITATIONS.Artificial sweeteners like sugar free and saccharine tablets are available. They are safe and may be used in moderate amounts (about five tablets a day) but during pregnancy they should be avoided.
